Some exciting news along Arizona’s Salt River: our wild horse herd has welcomed a new member, Thunder!
Born to a mare named Minnie and a stallion named Light Rain, Thunder arrived on August 15, 2026. The little colt was featured by Real Estate Daily News on September 4.
His arrival comes at an important moment. Arizona has announced a $325,000, two-year study of the herd’s genetic health, bringing together university researchers and federal wild horse experts to guide future management. Removals under the current management plan are paused for 2026 and 2027 while the research takes place, according to the official announcement.
