Some weekend plans are worth looking up for.
On Saturday, September 26, The Peregrine Fund and the Bureau of Land Management will host a public California condor release at Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in northern Arizona. Visitors can watch as young condors get their opportunity to take flight into the wild.
The release is part of National Public Lands Day, giving people a chance to learn about the birds and the work behind their recovery.
Watch in person or from home
The release pen is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. local Arizona time. If a trip to Vermilion Cliffs isn’t in the cards, The Peregrine Fund will also stream the event online, with coverage beginning at 10:30 a.m. Arizona time.
Visitors attending in person should bring binoculars, water, sun protection, snacks, and a chair. Parking is limited, and organizers advise that the walk from your vehicle could be up to a mile.
